SHIFT HAPPENS

6 Self-Investment Tips for Maximizing Your Future

April 27, 2022

1. Prioritize Health & Wellbeing in Your Wealth Portfolio

Present attention and care of your mental, emotional, physical and spiritual wellbeing increases your overall fitness, balance, strength, resilience, satisfaction and longevity.

In other words, you are more likely to be around to enjoy your future and returns on investments.

Shift Inward:

Which area, if improved even slightly, would make the greatest impact in your life right meow?

2. Own Your Worth

As your own greatest asset, are you acknowledging your own value? Are you using and sharing your gifts, skills and talents for the greater good?

Build the courage to ask for that raise, make that job or career jump or turn your passion into a side gig. What you appreciate, appreciates. Amirite?!?

Shift Inward:

How much are you leaving on the table by staying where you are?

3. Let Go of Sunk Costs

Walk away from people or things that drain your energy or time or do not reciprocate regardless of what you’ve previously invested. Your energy is a precious resource!

When you fully accept the loss (without judgment) and allow healing or transformation you create space for new opportunities.

Shift Inward:

What are you holding onto that is weighing you down or preventing your growth?

4. Diversify

Nourish your mind, body and soul by learning new skills, expanding your knowledge base or perspective, and engaging in new experiences. When you consciously challenge your current state you shift out of patterns of merely surviving and begin thriving.

It’s been said: “If you always do what you’ve always done, you’ll always get what you’ve always gotten.”

aka no gains!

Shift Inward:

When was the last time you were challenged or tried something new?

5. Live in Abundance

What good are your investments if they only benefit you? When you hoard your riches you operate from a scarcity mindset. Trust that there is enough to go around.

Serve others. Give what you want to receive—forgiveness, acceptance, love, joy, grace. Mentor others. Nurture your relationships.

Shift from ‘me’ to ‘we’. We rise by lifting others.

Shift Inward:

What area of your life are you playing small?

6. Be Aggressive

Often, you have to take risks or invest big to receive a huge return. If what you truly desire seems out of reach, it’s not. That’s the noise of the market distracting you. Are you really willing to do what it takes to get what you deserve?

Get comfortable with discomfort and uncertainty.

Go to therapy. Quit your job. Hire that coach. Go on that tropical retreat. Do that yoga training. Sign up for the marathon. Start your business.

Shift Inward:

Where are you most resistant to change and why?

7. Bonus: For Business Leaders

There is plenty of research that shows valuing employees puts you in a position to outperform companies that don’t.

Engaged, appreciated and satisfied employees contribute to a healthier work environment, an innovative and purposeful culture and retention.

Shift Inward:

Do you invest in your people, teams and processes and set them up for success? Do you encourage or model these self-investment behaviors? Which area could you make a greater investment?

Unlearning and Re-learning: Why You Feel Stuck On Your Personal Or Business Growth Journey

January 7, 2022

You’re curious and learning allll the things, yet you feel like you aren’t makin’ moves.

First, it’s awesome that you are open to change — acquiring new tools + knowledge and shifting your mindset to support your growth (I see you!) — so why does it feel like you are not moving forward?

Without engaging in the process of unlearning, it’s as if you’re taking two steps back.

Unlearning is simply (ha) releasing previously held paradigms, ingrained thoughts/habits or outdated business models. Completely letting go of old ways frees up space for relearning new ones that may likely serve you or your business better.

We amass tons of new info or tech and oftentimes, for many reasons, continue on autopilot with ‘the way it’s always been done.’

To expand beyond our current state, decide what it is you are trying to accomplish (relearn) and reflect on what you need to UNLEARN to make things happen or grow forward.

For example, if you have an intention to start practicing yoga to be more mindful throughout your day it’s not only about showing up to your mat regularly (amazing start tho).

It also requires the practice of unlearning the things that deter you from mindfulness when you are not practicing yoga (requiring constant evaluation and patience ;)). Then relearn by implementing your new mindfulness gains from your yoga practice in those areas off your yoga mat.

In biz, you may be inspired to be a more empathetic leader (goal).

Are you aware of the ways, areas or situations in which you are not showing up as an empathetic leader (reflection/evaluation)?

Choose and practice models of thinking or behaviors that reflect empathy instead of the previous ineffective or undesirable actions/situations from above (unlearning + relearning).

IT’S A PROCESS!!!

The reflection piece is crucial for unlearning. Without examining and knowing what to unlearn and why, relearning can be stalled keeping you in your patterns and truly embracing change or growth remains more challenging than it already is.

You’ve already taken the first steps. KEEP GOING!

What have you committed to relearning? What will you unlearn?
